Ten of Our Sites with the Most Amazing Views

Ten of Our Sites with the Most Amazing Views

The best part of a good camping trip is always the moment when you get to sit down with your coffee and take in the land around you, a breathtaking sunrise, or the sight of all your loved ones gathered around a fire. These moments are the whole point of getting away to a new place, and a beautiful vista is an essential component.

The U.K. is rich in great landscapes, but it's always better if you know where to find the best ones. Though all of our Wigwam sites have their own tremendous natural beauty, here’s ten of the most Instagram-worthy, heart-stopping, or generally first-rate places to take in a gorgeous view.

1. Rivendell Farm

Rivendell Farm Views

The first on our list is the appropriately Tolkien-esque named Rivendell Farm. Located in South Wales, Rivendell Farm has been gently plopped down on the top of a misty and majestic river valley a thousand feet above sea level. The Carmenthenshire Hills sprawl out around the cabins, into one hundred acres of woodland, countryside, and rolling hills.

From your Wigwam cabin, you can venture into the valley to see all of the natural beauty around you. Take the time to see the ferns and pine trees of the forest, or sit and admire the wildlife bristling nearby. The site is also a working farm with a flock of sheep, Highland cattle, some rare pigs, goats, ducks, guinea fowl and fresh-egg-supplying chickens.

The picnic tables and hot tubs all look out over the astonishing landscape so you’ll have the opportunity to really take it all in. Grab your drink of choice, a good book, or  a good friend and settle into the awe-inspiring sights.

2. Cove Farm

Cove Farm Views

Wigwam Holidays Cove Farm is located near the famous beaches of Belhaven Bay, and the cabins themselves look out over a glorious expanse of the North Sea. This part of the East Lothian coast is listed as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and its proximity to Edinburgh makes it an easy choice for any Scottish traveller in search of a restful retreat.

A short walk away from Pease Bay, the infamously great surfing spot, and the John Muir Way, Cove Farm offers plenty of exciting activities, but the view from the cabin is so phenomenal you may just not want to leave! Take in massive, starry night skies and seaside panoramas from the comfort of your home-away-from-home and enjoy the tranquillity of a morning view over the North Sea.

3. Aberystwyth

Aberystwyth Views

Quiet hillside meadows and mountains galore populate the views at Aberystwyth. This site benefits from its proximity to both the fun university town of Aberystwyth as well as the great Cambrian Mountains. Look out over uninterrupted views across the Rheidol Valley, Cardigan Bay and north to Cadair Idris and the majesty of Snowdonia. Enjoy a private dining area outside of your cabin to take in some of the UK’s most stunning scenery.

If you’d rather live the view than just look at it, meander through the countryside to discover the Devil’s Bridge Falls, reconstructed Iron Age villages, and all the sightseeing around this gem of a location.

4. Bodrugan

Bodrugan Views

If you’re looking to do some glamping near St. Austell, then you’re probably already anticipating the scenery. Cornwall is encrusted in coastlines renowned around the world for their beauty, but our Bodrugan site near Mevagissey is surely one of the best.

An idyllic location looking out over the Roseland Peninsula, Bodrugan will be the perfect place for gorgeous beach views and big sun-soaked skies. Potter around in the rock-pools at the shore and find some charming hidden coves for views of the sparkling water, or climb to the hill-top to get a grand overview of the surrounding 40 miles of seascape.

A heated swimming pool is available year-round, so get ready to really relax, put your feet up, and take it all in.

5. Portree

Portree Views

A Scottish landscape is like nothing else on earth. The Isle of Skye has always been regarded as one of the best spots to take in highland views, so why not do it from your own cabin in the outdoors?

Our Portree site is still close enough to the isle’s capital to be convenient, but far enough away to get some stunning wide open views. With uninterrupted views of the Cuillin Mountain range, a cabin here will offer you all the majesty you’ve ever desired of a highland holiday.

The site is also close to some great walks and famous landmarks, so there’s plenty of places to see and discover. Visit the Trotternish Ridge to see the Old Man of Storr, the Prison, and the Table (all beautiful natural landmarks — not an old man, a penitentiary, and an actual table).

6. Shulista Croft

Shulista Croft Views

Another amazing spot on the Isle of Skye, Shulista Croft also sits on the Trotternish Peninsula. Part of a traditional highland crofting community, the landscapes aren’t the only sites you’ll see at Shulista. There’s animals to see, too! The sixteen acres of working croft are home to Cheviot ewes, rams and a flock of Herdwick sheep. There’s also a very strong likelihood of spotting some golden eagles and sea eagles while you’re here.

Sitting at the base of storied mountains and ridges, a night here is sure to provide some of the most picturesque sights you could dream of. Journey to nearby beaches, take the time to meander through glens, and enjoy all the island has to offer.

7. Hafren

Hafren Views

Deep in the heart of the Cambrian Mountains, Hafren has an ideal holiday waiting for you. Tucked away on the edge of a picturesque working farm and sheltered by ancient woodland, the cabins here offer stunning views of greenery and sunshine.

A hut tub soak beneath the stars in this spot would be unbeatable. There are endless sights across the green countryside and the mountains happily loom in the distance. The area itself benefits from Dark Sky Status, so a stargazer here would be in for a real dazzler. There are guided workshops, activities, and events during the star-gazing season, so you won’t be lost if you’re not an astronomer.

8. Largo Law

Largo Law Views

Our Largo Law site overlooks the Firth of Forth and has sprawling sightlines across lush, green countryside. In the East Neuk of Fife, sea air abounds along with plenty of wildlife, beaches, history, and cloud-spotting.

Nature trails link you to beautiful old forests and sprouting wildflowers, along with cycle paths and seaside merriment. After roasting up some marshmallows or cooking a barbeque, take some time to gaze out over the loveliness of the green grass, ocean shore, and wide open skies.

The views at Largo Law would provide the perfect opportunity for any aspiring landscape photographer or plein air painter to flex their creative muscles, but it’s also just a really nice place to spend some time with the people you love.

9. Knighton

Knighton Views

Our mid-Wales Knighton site is obviously gorgeous in the summertime, but it also stuns in a gentle blanket of snow. This traditional working farm benefits from the sprawling expanses of hills and valleys the Wales is so beloved for, and would be the perfect place to live out any dreams of living in the Shire.

Just a short glance around your Wigwam will be enough for you to tell that this is a special place. The natural beauty abounds, and the countryside setting ensures you feel far away from any hustle and bustle.

Come in sunshine or snowfall to enjoy a hot-tub soak and a drink while gazing at some of the nicest of British locales.

10. Moffat

Moffat Views

The views at Moffat are absolutely jaw-dropping. Set in a particularly breathtaking part of Scotland, this Dumfries and Galloway getaway will have all of the sweeping expanses you could dream of. Moffat is an especially blissful place to be, and a hidden gem of the area.

The cabins are situated on a glorious hillside to offer maximum viewing potential of the sunrises, sunsets, and majesty of the countryside. A perfect place to go hill-walking, the site will charm your senses and re-connect you with the outdoors.

You’ll be surrounded by all the best nature has to offer: mountains, trees, wildlife, rivers, and more.
