Our guide to things to do while glamping near Looe and Liskeard

Seaside town of Looe

Looe is the closest town to our Wigwam Site. Grab a traditional (or vegetarian, or vegan) Cornish Pasty at Sarah's Pasty Shop, or a gourmet cream tea at Daisy's Cafe. Looe's Smugglers Museum has lots of curious exhibits and stories to lose yourself in. There's lots of animal antics at the Looe Wild Futures Monkey Sanctuary and the Portfell Wildlife Park. It is well worth taking a guided walk through the lush woodland of Looe Island (officially known as St George's Island).

Looe Music Festival

Every September the great and the good head to Looe Beach for the amazing Looe Music Festival.  Big names like the Stranglers, The Happy Mondays and the Jesus and Mary Chain mix with smaller local and international bands with every type of music covered over the three full days. There's no reason why you can't make merry at this brilliant beach festival and then escape the crowds when you book a luxury glamping pod with us for a restful night after an energetic day.

The market town of Liskeard

This traditional fishing town always seems to be painted with floral blooms, no matter what time of year! The town has a lovely sense of community - in its flower displays, its architecture and the friendly people. Delve into the rich history of the local area by taking in the exhibitions and galleries in Liskeard Museum and Stuart House - both with free entry. If you enjoy shopping, treat yourself to a walk among the Edwardian fronted shops to pick up souvenirs and treasures, and don't forget to stop off at one of the lovely coffee shops for refreshments.

If you're heading back to your Wigwam cabin for dinner, Liskeard has an excellent fishmonger. Catch yourself the catch of the day and have a really tasty, fresh BBQ on your campfire, back at your luxury Wigwam Holidays glamping pod.

Bodmin Moor

Wigwam Holidays Penbugle Organic Farm is close to Bodmin Moor so it's perfect for nature lovers, walkers and cyclists. For the intrepid explorer, navigate to one of Cornwall’s highest peaks - Brown Willy or Rough Tor. It’s not just the natural landscape that will astonish you. This area is steeped in a rich and diverse history - standing stones, a Neolithic enclosure, medieval chapels and Bronze Age hut circles.

You can also visit Cornwall’s highest church near St Breward. Mysteries, myths and legend abound in this area. Visit the site of the famous smuggler’s HQ - Jamaica Inn. Keep an eye out for King Arthur’s sword - Excalibur - said to lurk in the depths of Dozmary Pool, and don’t forget to protect yourself against The Beast of Bodmin Moor - a black panther-like cat who is said to creep around on dark nights.

The Cheesewring & Hurlers Standing Stones

Legend has it that men were turned to stone as punishment for ‘hurling’ stones on the Sabbath. These standing stones are a breathtaking and mystifying site. A short walk across Bodin Moor will take you to the Cheesewring - weather erosion over the centuries, or the work of bored, mischievous giants? You decide. The best part about glamping in Cornwall with Wigwam Holidays is that there's so much to see and do you don't have go too far from your luxury glamping Wigwam Site if you don't want to.
