The region also offers some of the best cycling in Scotland including the top mountain biking centre in the UK, Glentress Forest, featuring some of the best downhill trails in the world.
The Scottish Borders are also well known for a textile industry dating back to the 13th century - today it's a centre of excellence for lambswool goods and cashmere and there is even a textile trail to follow. Travel on quiet roads between friendly villages and towns including the historic fishing port of Eyemouth with its quaint and cobbled streets - or the arts destination town of Peebles with its many independent shops.
