Wigwam Holidays Moffat is easily accessible from the M6 and M74 routes and is just 20 miles from the market town of Dumfries. It’s the ideal base to enjoy the delights of Dumfries and Galloway, although it will be hard for you to leave the comforts of your cabin and the tranquillity of the glamping site!

On glamping holidays, it’s important to find a good balance between exploring the wider areas, taking in some tourist attractions and just chilling out and relaxing. Wigwam Holidays Moffat is set in such stunning countryside it will be hard to tear yourself away from your private hillside vantage each morning.
Enjoy mindful activities such as fishing for brown trout in the river, or woodland walks and cycles in the paths and trails surrounding the site. And in the evening, relax by your own campfire and marvel in the stunning dark skies overhead. The entire area is designated a Dark Skies Park, so there is much to be seen and enjoyed when the sun goes down.
Station Park & Craigieburn Gardens
A traditional, fun-for-all-the-family park, just five miles along the A02 from Wigwam Holidays Moffat. A perfect spot for picnics with plenty of wildlife to keep spotters happy while everybody tucks in. Afterwards, take a swan or a dragon gondola out onto the boating pond and spend some time outshining each other on the putting green.
Heading home to your cabin, stop in for a visit to Craigieburn Gardens and Nursery. Lots of interesting plants and flowers to view, and you might pick up a bargain or two along the way.
Grey Mare’s Tail Nature Reserve
This wonderful nature park plays host to the spectacular Grey Mare’s Tail Waterfall which plunges 60m into the valley below. There are lots of walks and trails throughout the area - suitable for all energy levels and abilities and lots of wildlife to spot including feral goats, peregrine falcons and ospreys.
Traquair House
A forty-minute drive along the A708 will take you to Traquair House - Scotland’s oldest inhabited house. Formerly a hunting lodge for the kings and queens of Scotland, this beautiful stately home plays host to a wide range of events and exhibitions throughout the year. Take part in the Beyond Borders festival, join a ghost tour at Hallowe’en, join in the festive fun at the Christmas fayre, or simply enjoy the tours and walks through the house and grounds.
There’s plenty to keep you busy - including a cafe, brewery, shop and many exhibitions and galleries to browse.
Visit Dumfries
Just twenty-five miles from Wigwam Holidays Moffat is the market town and former Royal Burgh of Dumfries. This lovely town is packed with things to do and see. Museums such as the Dumfries and Galloway Aviation Museum and Dumfries Museum give valuable insight into the area’s rich history. Fun parks like Dino Park and Mabie Farm park are brilliant days out with lots to keep kids of all ages happy. The area is rich in historical castles and landmarks such as Robert Burn House and Morton Castle and if you time it right, make sure you buy tickets for the wonderfully named Garden of Cosmic Speculation. A weird and wonderful celebration of nature and senses. Not to be missed!
