Things to do around Spalding

The Wash Nature Reserve

One of England's most untamed areas of natural beauty, there's a lot of wild life spotting to be done on this unspoiled stretch of salt marsh and mud flats. Named by The Telegraph as one of England's 'last great wildernesses' so bring your binoculars and walking boots and enjoy the show. It takes an hour to drive there from Wigwam Holidays Crowtree along the A17, so make sure to pack supplies for a day in nature.

Alternatively, Frampton Marsh, a popular RSBP reserve, is a little closer (half an hour on the A16). Dog walking is popular along the seabank with views extending across the wash as far as the eye can see! Dogs are not permitted in the reserve itself but holiday periods offer lots of activities for children from pond dipping to nature trails (often with prizes!).

After a day of being immersed in nature, we recommend heading back to your luxury Wigwam for a night gazing at the stars from around your campfire. 

Spalding Water Taxi

A pleasant way to spend some time on your glamping break is to board a water taxi at Springfield Festival Gardens. The water taxi takes you along the river to the market town of Spalding. There's lots of things to spot on your journey, birdlife as well as local flora and fauna. You may even spot our local kingfishers! Spend a few hours in the town of Spalding before a return journey to Springfield. Private-hire boats are also available to book!

Springfields Gardens and Outlet Centre.

A short drive or an hour’s stroll along the river bank will bring you to Springfields.

We highly recommend a visit to the outlet shopping centre at Springfields which includes a number of popular High Street names (M&S, Joules, White stuff, Clarkes, Radley etc). There are restaurants and coffee shops as well as a large Garden Centre.

Springfields Floral Gardens are free (but, sadly, dogs are NOT permitted!) and make a lovely afternoon stroll. During holiday periods there are lots of activities for children – many of them free to watch!

Adventureland

Situated at the back of the beautiful floral gardens and water features at Springfields, is Advenureland; perfect for children. Play Jurassic Golf! You don't need kids to enjoy this amazing crazy golf adventure - you just need to be young at heart! Take on the giant dinosaurs as you attempt to score a hole in one at this fun crazy golf course. Like heights? Climb among the tree canopy! Try out JCB driving or play on the ‘beach’if you’re smaller.

Scalextric Racing Spalding

We can't always guarantee great weather - so if you're looking for a fun indoor activity then why not take on your holiday companions with a spot of car racing? No glamping holiday is complete without some adrenaline sports to keep the blood pumping. If you're not a typical adrenaline junkie - don't worry, we've got something a little calmer in mind. Scalextric car racing - on a secure indoor track. All the fun and excitement of motorcar racing, with none of the personal injury!

 Less than ten miles from Wigwam Holidays Crowtree, it's a great way to while away a few rainy hours and it's only ten minutes from Spalding where you'll find plenty of pubs to celebrate your victory (or drown your defeat!). 

Ayscoughfee Hall Museum and Gardens

Visiting Ayscoughfee is a treat; with a wealth of Specialty/Activity days, Music in the Park as well as immaculate gardens and a museum sharing a glimpse into Spalding's rich past. There's a lovely cafe, too serving home made cakes and fresh coffee. 

Moulton Windmill

Only a short drive from Crowtree, Moulton Windmill is open all year and is Britain’s tallest mill. Events run throughout the year and the Granary Tearooms and Mill shop are free to relax in.
